SpotiFLAC Extensions & Repository Guide

SpotiFLAC's extension system lets you add search providers, download engines, and metadata tools through a repository registry. This guide covers everything: what extensions are, how to add a repository, and the official registry URL.

  • Desktop & Mobile
  • .spotiflac-ext format
  • Registry JSON system

Overview

What are SpotiFLAC extensions?

SpotiFLAC extensions are modular plugins that expand the app's capabilities. Instead of being locked to a single provider, SpotiFLAC uses an extension system where community-built packages can add new music sources, download engines, and metadata tools.

Extensions are distributed through repository registries — a JSON file hosted on GitHub that lists available extensions and their download URLs. You add a repository to SpotiFLAC once, and it shows all available extensions from that source inside the in-app Extension Store.

  • Search provider extensions (find tracks across services)
  • Download provider extensions (pull FLAC from Tidal, Qobuz, Deezer)
  • Metadata extensions (lyrics, artwork, label data)
  • Available for both desktop and mobile

Extension Format

The .spotiflac-ext file

Each extension is packaged as a .spotiflac-ext file. This is the installable unit that SpotiFLAC reads to register a new provider or tool. You can install extensions directly from a .spotiflac-ext file, or browse and install them via a connected repository.

Registry System

How repositories work

A repository is a registry.json file hosted on GitHub. It lists available extensions, their versions, and download links. When you add a repository URL to SpotiFLAC, the app fetches this file and shows available extensions in your Extension Store.

Repository URL

Official SpotiFLAC Extension Repository URL

This is the URL you add inside SpotiFLAC to access the official extension registry. Copy it exactly as shown below.

Open SpotiFLAC → Extension Store → Repositories → Add Repository, then paste one of the following:

Step-by-Step

How to add an extension repository to SpotiFLAC

This process is the same on desktop (Windows, macOS, Linux) and mobile. The only difference is where you find the Extension Store in the interface.

01

Open SpotiFLAC

Launch the app on your device. Make sure you are on the latest version — check the downloads page if needed.

02

Go to the Extension Store

Find the Extension Store in the app navigation. On desktop it is in the sidebar. On mobile it appears in the bottom bar or menu.

03

Open Repositories

Inside the Extension Store, look for the Repositories or Sources tab. This is where you manage registry URLs.

04

Add the repository URL

Tap or click Add Repository, then paste the official registry URL from the section above. Press confirm.

05

Browse and install extensions

The Extension Store now shows all available extensions from that registry. Tap any extension to install it.

06

Search and download

With at least one search provider extension installed, go back to the main screen and search for any track, album, or playlist.

Extension Types

What extensions can do

Different extensions serve different roles. Here is a breakdown of the main extension types available through the registry.

SP

Search Providers

Connect SpotiFLAC to external music catalogs so it can find tracks by name, artist, or by pasting a streaming link.

DL

Download Providers

Pull lossless FLAC files from Tidal, Qobuz, Deezer, and other supported sources through provider-specific extensions.

MD

Metadata Extensions

Enrich downloaded files with lyrics, synced LRC text, album artwork, label data, and credits from connected services.

FB

Fallback Routing

Install multiple download providers so SpotiFLAC can query other active providers if a track is unavailable from the first.

MO

Mobile Extensions

Extensions work on SpotiFLAC Mobile too. Use the same repository URL on Android and iOS to install the same providers.

EX

.spotiflac-ext Files

Install extensions directly from a .spotiflac-ext file without a repository — useful for custom or private builds.

Mobile Extensions

Adding extension repositories on Android and iPhone

SpotiFLAC Mobile supports the same extension repository system as the desktop app. The setup process is identical — open the Extension Store in the app, go to Repositories, and paste the registry URL. See the mobile guide for installation steps specific to Android APK and iOS IPA.

AN

Android APK

Extension repos work on SpotiFLAC Mobile for Android 7.0+.

IO

iOS IPA

Same registry URL works on iOS 14.0+ via AltStore or Sideloadly.
